Telemedicine Visits Now Available!

Spine West is excited to introduce telemedicine appointments beginning on February 4th!

Using your smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can have your next follow-up visit from the comfort of your home or office.

With telemedicine you will be able to have your MRI and lab reviews, pre and post-injection, and medication adjustment appointments using an online application. This convenient application eliminates missing work, driving time, and waiting rooms.

To sign up, email us or call our office. A staff member will then contact you to sign up. This service is accepted by most insurances.

  • What are telemedicine visits?

Telemedicine visits allow you to carry out follow-up visits without being physically present in our Spine West office. Using the video and audio capabilities of your smartphone or laptop/computer you conduct a virtual face to face encounter with your Spine West provider.

 

  • How do telemedicine visits benefit me?

Put simply, they are more convenient. You can have your next follow-up from the comfort of your home or your office at work. Doing so would potentially save you time and money by eliminating travel time, waiting rooms, and missing time off work.

 

  • What do I need to participate in a telemedicine visit?

Our telemedicine appointments are carried out through the Hippo Health app on your smartphone or your laptop/computer that is equipped with a webcam. The Hippo Health app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for your Android device or the App Store for the Apple iPhone.

 

  • Does my insurance cover it?

Telemedicine visits are covered by most commercial insurances such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Humana and Aetna. At this time, telemedicine visits are not available for our Medicare patients.

  • Are telemedicine appointments only for follow-ups? What about consultations?

Telemedicine appointments are just for follow-up visits such as pre/post procedure appointments and MRI reviews. Consultation or new patient appointments are not eligible for telemedicine visits.

  • Are telemedicine appointments billed the same as regular follow-up office visits?

Yes. Telemedicine visits will be charged the same as a routine follow-up visit. You will still be responsible for any co-pays, co-insurance or deductibles that are applied by your insurance company.

 

  • How can you verify patient confidentiality? Are video meetings secure?

The platform Spine West uses, Hippo Health, is HIPAA compliant.

 

  • If my telemedicine appointment cannot be completed due to technical issues, will I be reimbursed?

You or your insurance company will not be charged if you and your provider cannot establish a video connection.

 

  • What if I still prefer in-person appointments?

You may continue to schedule in-person appointments as always.
